A new breed of tree inventory
The foundation of any effective urban forest management program is a detailed tree inventory. Frustrated with low-fi solutions, diminishing budgets, and a reliance on inaccurate and outdated data, most cities still lack a tree inventory.
TreeTect is a free, open-source software to create AI-enabled tree inventories; an inventory that is as dynamic as the trees themselves. Learn more ➝
About
After learning that urban trees live just 13 years, while their rural counterparts live up to 100 or more, Green City Watch was born. We leverage a combination of ecological engineering, machine learning techniques, and remote sensing methods, known as "geospatial AI", to boost urban tree longevity.
The time is ripe for a smarter way to map, monitor, and manage one of the most important urban infrastructural assets: trees. While “smart cities” continue to innovate and invest in applications for “smart” waste management, mobility, and lighting, trees have long been left behind.
Green City Watch has worked with 30+ (mega)cities, from Boston to Amsterdam to Jakarta, to provide open-source software to understand, oversee, and improve urban forests.
